I'm Cameron Chick, I'm an Independent candidate for U.S. Senate. As a paralegal, small business owner, and advocate for disability rights and civil rights law, I'm committed to bringing a unique perspective to the Senate.
My background is rooted in service and dedication. I've worked as a property manager, personal banker, and paralegal, giving me a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to our community. I'm also a proud member of several national organizations, including the National Paralegals Association and the National Coalition to End Homelessness.
Why I'm Running
As an Independent, I'm not beholden to special interests or party affiliations. I'm free to focus on what's best for New Mexico, not what's best for the career politicians. My opponent, Ben Ray Lujan, has been in politics for years, but I'm the fresh voice our state needs.
I'm running to address the real issues facing our state: affordable housing, public safety, and protecting our fundamental rights. It's time for a change, and I'm the leader who can bring it.

Across New Mexico and the nation, families, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and working-class Americans are being priced out of the housing market. Rising rents, limited housing inventory, increasing construction costs, and decades of inadequate housing policy have created a crisis that demands action. As an independent candidate for the United States Senate, I believe affordable housing should not be a partisan issue. It is an American issue. While politicians argue, too many families are forced to choose between paying rent, buying groceries, accessing healthcare, or keeping the lights on. I support a comprehensive approach that increases the supply of affordable and workforce housing, encourages responsible private-sector development, expands homeownership opportunities, and strengthens housing assistance programs for those who need them most. We must reduce unnecessary bureaucratic barriers that delay housing construction while ensuring communities maintain local control and responsible growth. I will advocate for: Expanding affordable and workforce housing development. Increasing housing opportunities for veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families. We must move beyond political slogans and focus on policies that produce real results. I support a balanced approach to public safety that combines strong law enforcement, crime prevention, mental health services, addiction treatment, and community partnerships. Public safety is not achieved through enforcement alone—it requires addressing the root causes of crime while ensuring law-abiding citizens are protected. As an independent candidate for the United States Senate, I believe free speech belongs to every American, regardless of political party, ideology, religion, background, or viewpoint. The true test of our commitment to free speech is not whether we protect speech we agree with, but whether we protect the right of others to express opinions we may disagree with. Every American deserves the dignity of a safe place to call home, access to essential services, and the opportunity to build a better future. Addressing homelessness requires practical solutions that combine compassion with accountability. My Plan to Address Homelessness Expand Affordable Housing I will support policies that increase the supply of affordable housing, reduce unnecessary regulatory barriers, and encourage public-private partnerships to create more housing opportunities for working families, seniors, veterans, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Prioritize Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Many individuals experiencing chronic homelessness struggle with mental health challenges or substance use disorders. I support expanding access to treatment, recovery programs, crisis intervention services, and long-term behavioral health care. Support Veterans and Vulnerable Populations No veteran who served our nation should be left without a home. I will advocate for stronger veteran housing programs and targeted assistance for seniors, individuals with disabilities, youth aging out of foster care, and survivors of domestic violence. Strengthen Workforce Development Stable employment is one of the strongest pathways out of homelessness. I support job training programs, workforce development initiatives, apprenticeships, and partnerships with local businesses that help individuals gain skills and achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Improve Government Accountability Taxpayer dollars must produce measurable results. I will push for greater transparency, performance standards, and outcome-based funding to ensure homelessness programs effectively move people from the streets into stable housing and permanent employment. I support empowering cities, counties, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and community leaders to develop innovative solutions tailored to their unique needs. For too long, these issues have been met with inadequate resources, fragmented systems, and political inaction. It is time for a comprehensive approach that prioritizes prevention, treatment, recovery, and accountability. My Plan for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Expand Access to Mental Health Care Every American should have timely access to quality mental health services regardless of income or location. I support increasing the mental health workforce, expanding telehealth services, reducing barriers to care, and improving access in rural and underserved communities. Combat the Addiction Crisis Addiction is a public health challenge that requires evidence-based solutions. I will support expanded access to treatment programs, recovery services, medication-assisted treatment, and community-based support systems that help individuals achieve long-term recovery. Invest in Prevention and Early Intervention The best way to address mental illness and addiction is before a crisis occurs. I support increased funding for prevention programs, school-based mental health services, community outreach initiatives, and early intervention resources that identify challenges before they become life-threatening. Strengthen Crisis Response Systems Individuals experiencing a mental health crisis deserve immediate access to professional care. I support expanding crisis stabilization services, mobile crisis response teams, and coordinated emergency response systems that connect people with treatment rather than leaving them to navigate a crisis alone. Support Veterans, First Responders, and High-Risk Populations Veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, and other high-stress professions face unique mental health challenges. I will advocate for specialized treatment programs, peer-support networks, and expanded access to counseling and recovery services for those who serve our communities and nation. Address Homelessness Through Treatment and Support Mental illness and addiction are often contributing factors to chronic homelessness. I support integrated programs that combine housing assistance, behavioral health services, addiction treatment, and workforce development to help individuals regain stability and independence. Increase Accountability and Transparency Taxpayer-funded programs must demonstrate measurable outcomes. I will support data-driven policies that track effectiveness, improve service delivery, and ensure resources are directed toward programs that produce real results for individuals and families.
